- Click Calculate Flooring for area and boxes needed
Common Room Examples (10% Waste)
Quick reference for popular room sizes. Boxes assume 20 sq ft coverage per box (common for many LVP/laminate products). Adjust for your product’s actual coverage.
| Room Size | Room Area | With 10% Waste | Boxes (20 sq ft) |
|---|---|---|---|
| 10 × 12 ft | 120 sq ft | 132 sq ft | 7 |
| 12 × 15 ft | 180 sq ft | 198 sq ft | 10 |
| 15 × 20 ft | 300 sq ft | 330 sq ft | 17 |
| 20 × 20 ft | 400 sq ft | 440 sq ft | 22 |
Always use the coverage printed on your product box. Diagonal or patterned installs may need 15%+ waste.
Recommended Waste Factor
| Layout / Room | Waste % |
|---|---|
| Simple rectangle, straight lay | 5 – 10% |
| Multiple closets or angles | 10 – 12% |
| Diagonal or herringbone | 15 – 20% |
| Large open area, minimal cuts | 5 – 8% |
